A little about Dave …

Locations

I grew up in Wethersfield, the oldest town in the state of Connecticut. It was founded in 1634. My university education was in Boston, Massachusets. Pre-graduation work assignments were in Boston; Bulington, Vermont; and Hopewell Junction, New York. Permanent work assignments began in Hopewell Junction, then Poughkeepsie, NY, which is 10 miles to the north.

A job transfer took me to Rockville, Maryland, where I settled in Potomac and have lived for the last 30+ years. Job changes took me to Chantilly, Virginia, and Baltimore, Maryland.

Now retired from my last 9-5 job, I continue to work part-time, primarily in Montgomery County, Maryland, where I still live. As a writer, I can work remotely as long as I have a computer or tablet and a strong internet connection.

Job Titles

Field Engineer, Staff Programmer, Advisory Market Support Representative, Senior Product Administrator, Senior Systems Engineer, Webmaster, Evangelist, Treasurer, and now Freelance Writer. Although I never had the job title of “Writer,” many of my jobs included writing of technical reports, conference papers, and the development and teaching of technical courses. And, of course, a webmaster writes lots of content.

Education

Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering form Northeastern University. I should have been in Computer Science but way back then it wasn’t a separate discipline.

Although I am not a Pastor or M.Div., I graduated from one of the programs at Wesley Theological Seminary and have studied at Gettysburg Seminary. I have been to many faith-based conferences in the United States and one in London, England.

In retirement, I needed something to do besides playing Pickleball. Thinking of my past experiences, many included writing in some form or another. I began, and am still taking, courses from AWAI, the American Writers and Artists Institute, to keep my mind active by sharpening my writing skills.

Values

Technically, I am a Boomer. My values came from my parents, grandparents, Boy Scouts, and my church while growing up. To characterize myself, I would use the words hard-worker, honesty, and integrity. In many respects, I identify with the Builder generation rather than that of a Boomer. In all aspects of my life, I try to live up to these principles.

Interests

I have always had an interest in helping others. As a matter of fact, I have served on nine nonprofit boards, been a Soccer Coach for my son’s team, and currently volunteer at church and nonprofits. I am a member of the local Chamber of Commerce and have a Better Business Bureau A+ rating.

Looking Forward

You may have noticed my tag line next to my picture at the top. It says “Content Writer, Copywriter, Advisor.” I have 40+ years of industry, faith-based, and nonprofit experience, and 25+ years of developing websites.

Now, I have embarked on a new venture, that of more general content writing and copywriting.

My LinkedIn profile says EXPERIENCE COUNTS! I look forward to helping you and your company or nonprofit thrive in the future with my writing skills.
